Last night my wife and I watched this episode of Doctor Who in which the hymn “The Old Rugged Cross” was used. It reminded me of the “Amazing Grace” cover done by The Blind Boys of Alabama. Can you think of any other instances where a hymn was subverted from its original version and made to sound…excuse me for saying so but…just damned cool.

The first thing that came to my mind just now is Ani Difranco’s version of Amazing Grace. I know you already mentioned that hymn here, but… whatever. It’s the only one I know. LOL

I’ll go look it up now…oh, by the way, I have reopened my previous blog at unfinishedperson.com, in case you’re wondering. Maybe you’re not, but that’s where I can be found now too.
